Nigeria spends an estimated $850 million a year on foreign cloud infrastructure, and one question kept nagging me: how much of that value actually stays home? In this piece for The Nation, I argue that attracting data centres isn't the win; capturing the jobs, taxes, local contracts and digital-service exports around them is. The cloud economy is already here, and the real fight is over who benefits from it.
